Children's Christian Education

Sunday School at St. James resumes on August 24, 2008. We begin at 10:00 AM and complete the lesson and activities in time to join the congregation for Holy Communion.

The program we use is Godly Play created by Jerome Berryman based on his interpretation of Montessori based religious education. The children have enjoyed the lessons and hands-on manipulative items that go along with each lesson. The Godly Play Lessons are an imaginative approach that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest. This program is appropriate for children ages 3 to 9.

Families with 11 and 12 year old youth are invited to an information meeting September 7, 2 PM at St. Stephens in San Luis Obispo. A new Rite 13 group is being formed for the 11-12 year olds. Any adults interested in becoming leaders or helping out should also attend the meeting. Rite 13 leaders cannot be parents of the eligible youth. This is a Deanery wide activity. Planning is also being made for Deanery youth to "bridge" them into the Journey 2 Adulthood program.

Following the Rite 13 meeting parents and youth of St. James are invited to meet with The Rev. Mary K. Morrison on Sunday, September 7th, at 5PM, in the St. James Hall. There will be pizza and conversation for the planning of activities for the youth of St. James.
