Children's Christian Education

Sunday School at St. James coordinates with the 9:15 am service. Children should join the congregation for the beginning of the service. During the Hymn of Praise, teacher and students leave for Sunday School. The children return to church at The Peace so that all may join together for Holy Communion.

The program we use is Godly Play created by Jerome Berryman based on his interpretation of Montessori based religious education. The children have enjoyed the lessons and hands-on manipulative items that go along with each lesson. The Godly Play Lessons are an imaginative approach that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest. This program is most appropriate for children ages 3-9, though older children are welcome also.
